Jplant is a plant nursery located just north of the 401 in Greater Napanee, Ontario. We grow and sell small plants in Canada. We grow perennials, ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, fruit-bearing shrubs, and bamboo. All sales are made online via our website; and we ship to clients across select Canadian provinces.

We are seeking a General Manager Assistant to join our team this season.

Under supervision of the General Manager, the General Manager Assistant will support our customers, sales, and shipping to ensure the company’s customer engagement, financial and administrative goals are met. This will include responding to customer support emails and tracking and managing special requests; managing customer refunds; developing shipping lists and tracking shipments; posting ads on social media; researching and writing product content; updating products / content on our website; and assisting the Manager with human resources duties. The successful candidate will be comfortable with using a variety of internal and external apps to complete their work.

A reliable vehicle is needed for this position.

Job description

Customer Support: With a strong focus on timely responses, sales and customer retention: respond to support emails, and social media inquiries; keeping track of special requests; updating orders and processing refunds and tracking these changes.

Shipping Support: With a strong focus on detail, work under pressure, and an ability to respond to change: prepare lists of orders to ship; create shipping labels; and track shipments.

Human Resources: Assist Manager with human resources operations and duties such as osting job offers, coordinating and participating in job interviews, performance review meeting, employee timekeeping (as needed).

Marketing Support: Post weekly advertisement on Facebook and implement/manage google ads; and respond to Facebook comments.

Content Creation: Follow precise instructions in researching information for, and writing product descriptions.

Website Support: Take great care in, and pay attention to detail in adding/updating products to the website and work comfortably with excel files.

Sales experience

Self-motivated

Education and/or experience in marketing and communications

Detail Oriented

Able to understand and follow directions precisely

Well organized

Responsible, and able to work independently

Able to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule

Ability to work in a small team

Able to work under some stress/pressure

Able to quickly pick up and work with new software and apps

Experience with current iterations of social media platforms, in particular Facebook Business Suite

Experience with WooCommerce, Wordpress is an asset

Interest in horticulture, plants, or gardening

Work comfortably in a greenhouse environment

Valid G class driver’s license (or able to arrange consistently reliable transportation to the nursery)

Salary: $25.00 per hour
