Health And Safety Coordinator

Patriot Forge Co. supplies carbon, alloy and stainless steel forgings with heat treatment, machining and testing.

Through continual upgrades, Patriot Forge has been able to enhance our manufacturing capabilities to better serve the needs of our ever evolving customer base.

We are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team!

This role is involved in the implementation and monitoring of processes and practices to achieve a safe and healthy working environment. This includes ensuring compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety legislations, standards and guidelines, providing Health and Safety advice to facilite compliance to Patriot Forge Health and Safety requirements and supporting our Health and Safety programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct Orientation for new employees and retrain existing employees on all areas of safety
• Responsible for communicating and enforcing policies, programs and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
• Create/Revise Safe Work Procedures
• Conduct monthly workplace inspections at Paris and Brantford facilities
• Participate in the identification, evaluation, control and management of hazards and risks throughout the organization
• Co-ordinate and attend all JHSC Meetings
• Ensure Contractor Compliance – paperwork and monitoring activities on site
• Arrange and manage fire and evacuation drills at both plants
• Manage monthly/bi-monthly testing of security/alarms and sprinkler systems
• Monitor incidents to determine trends or identify common issues
• Participate in incident investigations determining root cause and corrective action
• Participate in ‘pre-start’ reviews as required
• Recommend and prepare material for Toolbox Talks
• Maintain SDS compliance
• Remain up-to-date on H&S legislation
• Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointed by management

Experience/Skills/Education:

• Must be a graduate of an Occupational Health and Safety Management program
• CRSP designation, or actively working towards
• 7+ years experience in a Health and Safety role
• In-depth understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
• Experience developing/delivering training programs in all areas of H&S - including material handling
• Effective written, oral, communication and presentation skills
