We are seeking a reliable, highly organized, and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining Health and Safety programs to ensure a secure and compliant work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in safety performance. The ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality is a must.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct and manage new hire orientations and in-house training sessions.
- Regularly scan and archive key documents, including incident reports, WSIB paperwork, and Safety logs.
- Conduct in-house investigations of incidents and manage facility incident response teams.
- Oversee the process of various training certifications.
- Track and report safety statistics and meeting minutes and facilitate Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings.
- Oversee first aid and health & safety inventory, ensuring they are regularly inspected and restocked.
- Manage all Health and Safety documentation, ensuring accurate and up-to-date files are maintained across relevant platforms.
- Conduct daily facility inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Perform various audits, including Safety Observation Conversation (SOC), JHSC inspections, supervisor inspections, and toolbox talks.
- Present at tailgate talks, providing engaging and informative safety briefings to teams.
- Assist in performing job hazard assessments, safe job procedures, and safe work practices.
- Organize third-party training programs.
- Administer all safety-related awards and recognition programs, including the coordination and distribution of prizes.
- Maintain and update safety management calendars and tracking systems and ensure they are current.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and update information for facility and field management meetings.
Qualifications
1-3 years of experience as a Health & Safety Coordinator or similar role. Minimum high school diploma required, post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset. Working knowledge of current safety and environmental regulatory requirements. Intermediate computer skills required with working knowledge of SiteDocs, Smartsheet, and MS Office. CRSP or CRST (or similar qualification) would be considered an asset. Working conditions include sitting, standing, walking, and PPE is required. This position will be required to participate in construction site visits and manufacturing floor walk throughs / working outdoors during inspection times with exposure to loud environments. A valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract is required.
