Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator / Project HSE Advisor
Location: Initially based in Head Office Calgary, transitioning to Project Site (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off shift) in Edmonton
Salary: Calgary Head Office Position (Term Contract), the hourly pay is between $44 and $48, based on experience. For the Project Position, the hourly rate is $55.00, + overtime at x1.5
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our team. This position will initially support our HSE system management at our head office and subsequently transition to a Project Advisor role at our project site, operating on a 2-week on / 2-week off shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities:
Head Office Role:
- Implement, manage, and monitor the HSE management system in the head office.
- Conduct regular HSE audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop Project HSE Documentation and KPI data systems
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with various departments to integrate HSE best practices into daily operations.
- Prepare HSE performance reports for management.
Project Site Role:
- Provide HSE advice and support to project teams, ensuring the highest safety and environmental compliance levels.
- Monitor project activities, identify HSE risks, and advise on appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Plan emergency response and crisis management efforts on-site.
- Collaborate with project management to integrate HSE objectives into project planning and execution.
- Ensure continuous improvement of HSE standards and practices at the project site.
Qualifications:
- Occupational Health and Safety certification or related experience qualifications (e.g., NCSO/CSO/CRSP - OHS Diploma)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in a corporate and project environment.
- Certified in relevant HSE courses (COR auditor considered an asset)
- Strong understanding of HSE regulations and industry standards.
- Knowledgeable in Managing compliance system software systems (ISN, Avetta, Complyworks)
- Proficiency in HSE management systems and risk assessment tools.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE-related software.
- Adaptability to transition between different work environments and schedules.
Additional Requirements:
- Local to Calgary or surrounding area
- Willingness to travel and adjust to a rotational work schedule during the project phase.
- Ability to pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing
- Maintain a Canadian Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract.
- Eligible to work in Canada without work permits
