Specialized Services; focusing on Human Rights, Harassment and Discrimination Investigations, Workplace Assessment, Workplace Restoration and policy creation/guidance.

 

 

Job Function

Assist Manager in coordinating Human Resources for programs to be administered on a divisional basis. Administer divisional projects of a specialized nature. Conduct studies and investigations into the development and maintenance of Human Resources programs, policies and services for the branch. Act as a specialist to line and staff officials in the division providing advice, guidance and direction in the area of Human Resources expertise; also the administration and interpretation of related corporate, branch and divisional policies and procedures.

 

 

Job Description

  1. Assist Supervisor in coordinating Human Resources services for programs to be administered on a divisional basis). Work with Human Resources managers and line management to integrate departmental activities and services and to ensure continuity of effort to achieve desired results. Coordinate the efforts of departmental staff at various stages of a program's evolution and monitor progress and results in relation to program schedule. Resolve any difficulties and adjust program requirements and schedule as occasion may demand because of unforeseen circumstances or influences. Report on complete work and recommend continuation of activity on a divisional scale, or within the scope of departmental authority.
  2. Assist in administering divisional assignments/projects of a specialized nature Recommend divisional priorities and ensure the provision of designated services for the project.. Reassign work and staff as appropriate to meet schedules and to overcome any difficulties encountered. Monitor progress at significant stages and report on results at completion of the assignment/project with appropriate recommendations to Supervisor.
  3. Assist in conducting studies and investigations into the development and maintenance of Human Resources programs, policies and services for the division. Analyze their appropriateness and identify areas requiring change and/or improvement. Formulate recommendations to contribute to more effective Human Resources management in the division.
  4. Provide advice, guidance, and direction in the area of human resources expertise and the administration and interpretation of related corporate and branch policies and procedures to line and staff officials in the branch.
  5. As requested by Manager, serve as a representative of the division or department on committees or task groups dealing with designated areas of Human Resources management and specialization and in working with union representatives
  6. As directed by Manager, provide training and support in various areas of Human Resources to develop the capabilities of divisional staff. Present educational and information material to line and staff groups and conduct seminars and question and answer sessions as appropriate.
  7. Assist in preparing manuals and procedures reflecting divisional Human Resources policies and their application. Ensure compatibility and consistency for integration with those at the corporate level.
  8. Perform other duties as required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for managers and other team members

 

Travel

Limited travel, depending on candiadte work location, travel to Toronto required monthly or more as needed.

 

Selection Criteria

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • 2-3 years experience with an HR team or equivalent

  • Strong administration skills.

  • Requires a demonstrated knowledge of Employment Standards Act, 2000, Labour Relations Act, 1995, and Human Rights Code. 

  • Knowledge of English to effectively communicate with various stakeholders

  • Interest in or experience with Human Rights, Harassment and Discrimination investigations considered an asset.
