Description
As the Indigenous Workforce Development Coordinator, you will lead the charge in bringing together key stakeholders to address critical training needs in the forestry industry. You will play a central role in establishing partnerships with training facilities, communities, students, funding agents, and employers to develop targeted forestry training programs. Additionally, you will focus on preparing individuals for upcoming opportunities in new forestry mill facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partnership Development:
-Identify and engage potential partners, fostering collaboration between communities and the forest industry.
-Actively network to create a supportive environment for Indigenous participants within the forestry sector.
2. Training Program Development:
-Lead the interface with training facilities, communities, students, funding agents, and employers to develop forestry training programs.
-Address shortages impacting existing facilities through innovative and targeted training initiatives.
3. Job Opportunity Identification:
-Identify current and future job opportunities within the forestry industry, considering the unique needs of Indigenous communities.
-Collaborate with employers to ensure training programs align with workforce requirements.
4. Community Preparedness Assistance:
-Assess the readiness of Indigenous communities to fill future job opportunities within the forestry sector.
-Develop and implement initiatives to prepare individuals for upcoming positions, providing resources for skill development and career readiness.
5. Indigenous Employment Increase:
-Develop and implement strategies to increase Indigenous employment in the forest industry, focusing on highly skilled positions.
-Monitor and evaluate the success of employment initiatives, making adjustments as needed to meet or exceed indigenous employment targets.
