Job description

LFD Coordinator

The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking one (1) highly motivated individual for the position of LFD Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Education, the Labour Force Development Coordinator position is responsible for managing internal projects and/or contracting third parties to deliver employment-based programs and services to people who reside in the City of Yorkton and the off-reserve surrounding geographic district. The position works with the local governance structure to determine program and service delivery and liaises with local agencies that have an interest in employment development. The position is also responsible for all financial and reporting aspects of the Labour Force Development Program and the coordination of the office and staff daily.

Duties:

  • Meet with member bands on a monthly basis to determine training needs and employment opportunities
  • Consult with local agencies, chambers of commerce, economic development groups and training institutes to assess local urban employment needs
  • Collaborate with local educational service providers to develop plans for future training programs
  • Plan and coordinate on the job training programs and work placements to enhance essential skills and promote full-time employment
  • Partner with social assistance agencies to promote clients joining the workforce
  • Implement training programs at SIIT Yorkton Campus as advised by member bands and in collaboration with SIIT
  • Establish budgets for clients requiring funding for training or wage subsidies
  • Create program profiles, Activity/Client registrations and clams in the technical administration system
  • Oversee and monitors monthly payables and receivables for all programs and operational activities
  • Maintain all financial records affecting the Labour Force Development program and codes all expenditures in the YTC general ledger
  • Submit claims to Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group on a monthly basis
  • Prepare financial reports for the Education Commission and Saskatchewan Indian Training and Assessment Group
  • Provide information to HRSCD and Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group as requested during audits
  • Prepare proposals for grants to enhance program services and prepares reports on all grants received
  • Compile statistical information as requested by member First Nations or Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations
  • Attend all Saskatchewan Indian Institutes of Technology Campus Director meetings, Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group Technical Team meetings, Post Secondary Counselor meetings when requested, graduation/convocation ceremonies for students funded by Labour Force Development Program
  • Plan and coordinate meetings for the LFD staff

Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must have must have 2-3 years of experience of counselling in career planning, computer knowledge of the internet and database, Human Resources and employment search issues.
  • Must be willing to travel and must possess a valid driver’s license (and maintain throughout employment) and reliable vehicle, and must submit a current Criminal Record Check

· Work irregular or extended hours to complete special requests and/or projects

· Must manage a number of people, priorities and projects at one time, and may have to respond to emergency or crisis situations

  • The environment requires excellent organizational, time management and stress management skills

Salary: To Commensurate with qualifications. A combination of education, relevant training and work experience will be considered.
