We are currently hiring for an Infant Development Consultant

Job Status: Part-time 30 hours a week
Pay Rate Grid Level 14P ($37.55-$45.82)
Hours of work Monday to Friday – Flexible Hours, some evening work may be required

Nature of Position
The Infant Development Consultant works with parents, caregivers, and community partners to provide support and guidance in the ongoing development of infants and children. They utilize a family-centred approach to provide information, skill building, assessment, planning, and advocacy to families. Services will be centre- based, in-home, individual and group. The Consultant promotes healthy parent- child relationships, mentors effective parenting skills, monitors for developmental delays, supports in accessing resources, attends case reviews and team meetings, arranges or provides transportation for families where appropriate and necessary, and develops and maintains a toy/resource lending library that is culturally diverse.
The Consultant provides education to community and team members as appropriate and develops strong community partnerships.
The Infant Development Programme Consultant is a dedicated and knowledgeable member of a comprehensive organization wide support team. As such, when deemed qualified with appropriate skills and abilities, they may provide services to individuals in related programs, when required. The IDP Consultant is familiar with and participates in ensuring that the strategic goals of the agency are met.

Required Abilities
- Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of early intervention, family centred care and the community living sector.
- In depth knowledge of child development.
- Understanding of the types and appropriate use of developmental and screening assessments; background and skill in conducting assessments and preparing reports.
- Knowledge of the broader medical, social, educational and behavioural aspects of disabling conditions and their impact on the child and family.
- Excellent teaching skills and ability to coach and mentor same.
- Good organization, time and general management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to use personal computer and appropriate software effectively to complete the positions work on time. This includes at a minimum file management, e-mail, internet search, and word processing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills.
- Knowledge of group process and demonstrated facilitation and problem solving skills.
- Ability to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of early development professionals.
- Excellent knowledge of community and provincial resources for families and children.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in social work, child and youth care, or related human service field
- 2 years experience working with families of young children from birth to 3 years old
- Diploma or certificate in Infant Development or Supported Child
Development
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Requirements for Ongoing Employment
- Criminal Record Check (renewable every 5 years)
- TB Test
- A valid WCB-approved First Aid Certificate (OFA Level 1) and Child Safe First Aid
(Training can be provided)
- Class 5 driver’s license and access to a safe, reliable vehicle
