JOB TITLE: Infant Development Consultant
TEAM: Early Intervention Team
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Permanent full time
SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Infant Development Consultant will provide home-based, early intervention services for infants with, or at risk for developmental delays. The IDP Consultant provides early intervention services to infants, assisting families in acquiring tools, skills and community connections needed to promote optimal child development. The Consultant will work using a family-centered model while promoting inclusion and participation in community-based activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plans and implements the Program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Child Development Centre and The British Columbia Infant Development Program Guidelines.
2. Use professional specialized skills and knowledge to provide direct services and support for the child, parents, caregivers and other team members.
3. Structure clear Individual Service Plans based on families’ needs.
4. Participate in team assessments, client conferences, case reviews and team meetings as per the team model.
5. Participate in professional development activities.
6. Keep accurate, up-to-date records
7. Use email, internet and Microsoft 365 for clinical and administrative tasks
8. Ability to work well with children families and within a multi-disciplinary team.
9. Recognize own professional boundaries and demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality.
10. Ability to reflect on practice and identify training needs relating to own caseload.
11. Communicate complex condition related information from assessment to clients, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team
12. Responsible for providing families with information which may assist them in understanding more about child development, a specific disabling condition and the impact a disability may have on normal growth and development and on family life, while supporting the family in developing and maintaining loving relationships with their child.
13. Responsible for recording home visits and ensuring that parents and relevant professionals are sent reports twice a year regarding the progress of the infant.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Degree in an area related to early childhood development or Certificate/Diploma in Infant Development from the University of British Columbia is preferred.
2. Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or relevant education and experience is an asset
3. Minimum two years professional experience in the field of training is preferred.
4. Valid First Aid certificate and CPR training or willing to obtain
5. Must possess a solid understanding of infant growth and development and practical experience in working with infants and their families, and other professionals.
6. Skills in administering assessments and report writing are necessary.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
8. Must undergo criminal record check with satisfactory results, possess and maintain a valid BC driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle suitable for travel.
The successful candidate must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
