Job summary
Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, the Inventory Clerk & Order Picker is responsible for the management of our cycle count program, defective Mill returns, various inventory related issues and to accurately and efficiently pick customer orders following an established sequential routine as per established low-bay picking process.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Must be organized and have the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Must be detail oriented with a commitment to high levels of accuracy
- Good working knowledge of SanMar Canada’s PICK system
- Experience in general warehouse procedures
- Familiar with spreadsheet and word processing applications
- Post-secondary courses in inventory and/or purchasing an asset
- Must be able to count quickly and accurately
- Have the ability to recognize picking locations, product and colours
Working Conditions
- 40 hours per week; occasional overtime required
- Walking for extended periods & able to lift and carry weight up to 50lbs
- Able to sit and operate a computer for extended periods
- Can work under stressful conditions and meet deadlines
- Must wear CSA approved safety footwear with protective steel toes and other personal protective equipment as required
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct cycle counts to meet established schedule and file/provide required reports daily
- Daily returns and credit memo processing (location specific)
- Ongoing management of mill returns processing (location specific)
- All inventory slotting analysis and physical changes
- Ensure Inventory Return (IR) orders are processed and returned to vendors at least once per month
- Ensure true order shortages are processed per established standards
- Must strive to achieve or exceed low-bay picking productivity and accuracy targets (KPIs)
- Work with minimal supervision and keep assigned picking aisles clean and litter free
- Report mixed or wrong product in bins to replenishment team immediately
- Mark multi-tote orders with invoice numbers, can all orders at point of order pickup
- Ensure product is not overhanging/falling from bins
- Adjust auto-restock bin quantities daily
- Adjust defective items from warehouse activities daily
- Arrange storage of pending mill IRs and returns
- Return/dispose of mill IRs on a pre-scheduled basis
- Create Inventory Return (IR) orders in PICK (location specific)
- Create locations and labels for new products, prior to their arrival (location specific)
- Consult with Warehouse Supervisor on receiving schedules
- Distribute cycle count forms for 2nd counts
- Distribute hi and mid-bay location sheets through Receiver(s)
- Support Product Return/Pick-up counter personnel on daily basis
- Actively participates in process analysis and improvement activities
- Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
- Assist in other areas of the Warehouse department and additional duties as required by management

- Regular participation during general meetings regarding inventory issues and opportunities
- Keep co-workers informed of activities that have implications to their department
- Openly communicate any successes, concerns, or problems related to the job
