General Responsibility -
- Advise and lead the Human Resources department and management in all matters related to Labour Relations.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Company's strategic Human Resources plan.
- Act as a liaison between the Company and its employees, both unionized and non-unionized.
- Coordinate, plan, and support the Collective Bargaining process.
- Negotiate or be involved in the negotiations of Collective Agreements on behalf of the Company in accordance with Company policies and approved budgetary constraints.
- Monitor and advise on the administration and interpretation of the Collective Agreement and Human Resources policies on behalf of the Company.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the Company's Labour Relations strategies.
Direct Responsibilities -
- Manage and maintain systems and records related to Labour Relations.
- Manage the relationship between the Company, its employees, and the union, ensuring the organization is in full compliance with all relevant legislation (i.e., Human Rights, Employment Equity, Occupational Health and Safety, as well as Employment and Labour Legislation) and Company policies.
- Respond to all issues and inquiries relating to Labour Relations within the legislated time period.
- Participate in and encourage creative conflict resolution strategies.
- Mediate labour disputes, grievances, and arbitration processes as necessary in accordance with both legislative requirements and Company policies.
- Identify, recommend, and prepare any required employee training.
Prerequisites
- Post-Secondary Education in Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Commerce, Human Resources or other related field.
- 5 years of experience in a unionized environment.
- Experience in Collective Bargaining and managing the administration of Collective Agreements within a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written and listening).
- Strong analytical and dispute resolution capabilities.
- Ability to develop and manage solid working relationships.
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
- Successful completion of Aptitude test and company medical
