Pay band: Grade 5 Step 1 $27.13/hr plus 4% in lieu of vacation
Hours of Work: Up to 20 hours per week
Position Summary
The Library Services Coordinator will provide a welcoming environment at the Library branches
(including Leeds and the Thousand Islands Archives) in order to encourage and promote the mission, services and programs of The Leeds and the Thousand Islands Public Library.
Reporting to the CEO, the Library Services Coordinator will work with fellow staff, community organizations and volunteers to plan and implement Library Services while assisting in the development and promotion of all programs and services through social media and relevant channels.

Public Library community members.
Responsibilities
Coordination and administration of customer service, ILS (Integrated Library System), collection maintenance, staff training and facility spaces.
- Provides excellent customer service, responsive collection maintenance, innovative solutions, and advises on strategic directions and special projects.
- Performs all aspects of the circulation desk duties using ILS (Integrated Library System)
- Assists patrons with education and inquiries related to computers, internet, electronic resources, electronic devices, personal assistive devices, interlibrary loans and
catalogue. Provides reference/reader advisory services utilizing a number of resources including print and electronic resources, databases and the internet.
- Demonstrates comfort in assisting library users with disabilities and accommodating special needs.
- In partnership with the CEO, manages the ILS catalogue to ensure that library users have optimal access to the collection.
- Produces and runs reports, communicates any disruptions and coordinates with ILS
- Consortium partners and OLC (Ontario Library Consortium) support to resolve issues and continually improve the catalogue and related services.
- Anticipates and ensures smooth transition to new online catalogue systems, including coordination, testing and training of staff.
- Performs shared cataloging duties according to AACR2 and RDA standards.
Assists the CEO and branch managers with collection management including organization, housing, weeding and display. Promotes the collection through online catalogue features. Assists with interlibrary loan operations and any transition in provincial database. In collaboration with the CEO, assists with grant applications and the annual provincial survey. Works in partnership with the CEO and Technical Support Coordinator to develop a technology plan, assess technology for the library and provide staff support to implement technology policies and procedures .
- Participates in community outreach and programming as required.
- Attends virtual and in person conferences, workshops and training to enhance awareness of local library initiatives and broader developments in the library profession.

- Qualifications
- Preferred requirements: Completion of post-secondary education in Library and
Information Science and/or a Library Technician program from an accredited educational institution. Other equivalent education and experience may also be considered.
- Provision of a valid and favourable Criminal Record Check
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development; willing to attend conferences, courses and seminars as required, some of which may require overnight accommodation.
- Willingness to complete the Ontario Public Library Service’s Excel Program in Small
- Library Management.
- Valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing or alternate means of transportation to travel amongst the branches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a solid record of teamwork and service; must be able to coordinate activities, develop new services, relate well to staff and public; an ability to liaise in an effective customer service environment.
- Familiarity with marketing and social networking.
- Familiarity with SirsiDynix Symphony Workflows and Microsoft suite is an asset.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Possesses knowledge of the Public Libraries Act, 1990, and all applicable legislation.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills that can be used in the context of interpersonal relations and addressing complex technical service issues.
- Excellent ability to communicate technical information effectively, and to interpret and explain technical services workflows, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates a good working knowledge of the full range of programs and services offered by the library.
- Demonstrates a general understanding of all the technologies utilized by the library (e.g., catalogue, website, social media etc.).
- Demonstrates a good working knowledge is assisting library users with personal portable devices.
- Demonstrates a good working knowledge in assisting library users with disabilities and accommodating special needs.
- Expert knowledge of current ILS software used in-house and accessed by patrons online or via mobile devices.
- Understands the significance of public libraries and their role in society, both in general and in the Library’s service area and surrounding local communities.
- Models accountability for quality and timeliness of work and reliability in achieving excellent results.
- Well organized, flexible and able to deal with multiple priorities, organizes own time effectively.
- Comfortable with new ideas and has the curiosity to seek new opportunities and implement change.
- Resolves conflicts without major disruption to work environment or interpersonal relationships.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Hours of work: permanent part-time, regularly scheduled hours throughout the system, including evenings and weekends; possible attendance at the special events or programs.
- Work Environment: Performance duties which normally take place in an office/indoor library environment. Travel necessary to all branches or Archives as scheduled.
- Required from time to time to attend outreach programs in locations within/outside theLeeds and the Thousand Islands Township.
- Physical Demands: Position involves physical efforts of occasionally lifting up to 20kg, bending, standing, walking, climbing stairs, sitting, and prolonged computer/office equipment use.
- Position involves both mental and visual concentration with close attention to detail, including reading, analyzing, writing, providing, and presenting information.
