DMEC 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM - Monday
DCC 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

SUMMARY:
Reports to the Director of Learning Services-Equity & Success and works under the direction of the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) Co-ordinator. Performs confidential and non-confidential secretarial and instructional services in support of the LINC program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of a secondary school graduation program or equivalent. Completion of post-secondary secretarial or office procedures courses equivalent to a minimum of 6 months.
A minimum of 6 months of training or recent experience specific to education, adult training or work with immigrants, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet applications, internet searching and email.
Knowledge and aptitude for learning new computer programs including internet and English language programs. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle a wide variety of detailed clerical work quickly and accurately following the LINC guidelines with frequent interruptions.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively while following the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required. Ability to use judgement and tact when providing information. Desire and capability to work with adult immigrants.
Ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
Ability to operate a wide variety of office and classroom equipment. Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
Knowledge of WCB and WHMIS regulations. Safe work practices.
Knowledge of another language (e.g. Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish or Cantonese) is an asset.
