The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) represents the interests of approximately 5,000 full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students at
Nipissing University. NUSU is a separate registered not-for-profit organization that is distinct from but strongly affiliated with Nipissing University. Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Vice-President, Advocacy & Awareness, the Marketing
Associate plays a key role in executing NUSU's and its affiliates’ marketing strategy.
Collaborating closely with the Graphic Designer, they oversee the organization of all marketing materials. Additionally, the Marketing Associate contributes to the planning and execution of various services, events, clubs, activities, campaigns, and initiatives tailored to meet the specific needs of students at Nipissing University.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Initiating, implementing, and evaluating marketing and advertising strategies on behalf of NUSU in collaboration with the NUSU Executive Committee and the
Graphic Designer;
● Monitor the distribution and effectiveness of e-marketing campaigns, facilitate student surveys, gain feedback, and propose recommendations where applicable;
● Working with the NUSU Executive Committee and the Board of Directors to develop and implement appropriate internal communications methods;
● Maintain marketing portfolio for “Bay Bistro” and “On the Rocks” in collaboration with necessary stakeholders.
● Advising and assisting the NUSU Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and
NUSU Student Group Executives regarding the development and implementation of communication techniques that reflect current social and cultural trends;
● Supporting the use of multimedia advertising space in communicating
NUSU-related operations and activities;
● Engaging, developing, and maintaining positive relations with representatives of public, private, and not-for-profit institutions, charities, groups, sponsors, and all other individuals and organizations with an interest in NUSU;
● Developing, managing, and overseeing NUSU’s presence on various Social
Media sites;
● May be required to coordinate with other organizations and institutions, such as
Nipissing University when needed;
● Fostering a positive relationship with media outlets;
● Maintaining adequate communication with NUSU’s website provider; and,
● Being responsible for the ongoing management and maintenance of NUSU’s website in coordination with the Graphic Designer;
● Assisting with fulfilling other duties and goals, and performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned;
Qualifications and Skills
● Degree in Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, or an equivalent degree in communications;
● Experience in marketing or a strong interest in the field;
● Competent in the use of computer packages including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google (G-Suite), as well as office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, etc.;
● Ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision;
● Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines;
● Effective organizational and problem-solving skills;
