Marketing Content Proofreader/Editor

Job Summary

The Proofreader/Editor is responsible for reviewing and correcting written content to ensure accuracy, clarity and adherence to established guidelines. The role also maintains tools that support our team and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Proofreading: Carefully review written content, including white papers, blog posts, press releases, marketing materials and other assets, to identify and correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and trademark use

  • Editing: Enhance the clarity, coherence and overall quality of written content by revising sentences, paragraphs and structure as necessary and to be brand-compliant, while maintaining the author's intended meaning

  • Fact-checking: Verify the accuracy of information, statistics and references used in the content, ensuring that all claims are supported by reliable sources and are properly cited

  • Style Adherence: Ensure consistency in style, tone, messaging and formatting, following the established Equinix Style Guide, which is primarily based on the AP Stylebook

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with writers, content creators and other team members to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improving the clarity, flow and impact of their work

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of final drafts to ensure all corrections have been made and that the content meets the required standards

  • Time Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest messaging, grammar rules, inclusivity guidance and industry-specific terminology to maintain a high level of expertise

  • Own and manage quarterly metrics update process, engaging with stakeholders, including Investor Relations, to ensure approved metrics are properly incorporated into content

  • Assist Legal in documenting trademark use. Maintain the trademark guide

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Build relationships with project team members, including writers, graphic designers,  stakeholders and project managers

  • Schedule meetings with internal and external stakeholders as needed

Qualifications

  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax

  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional proofreading skills

  • Familiarity with various writing formats and content types, including web content, social media, press releases, reports, video scripts and other marketing materials

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills across a matrixed organization

  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in using editing software and tools, including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint; experience with Smartsheets, Figma and Miro a plus

  • A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Experience working as an in-house, agency or freelance proofreader; familiarity with AP Style and/or in-house style guides

  • Experience in tech industry preferred; working within a global remote team and familiarity with content localization a plus

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is:

• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $74,000 to $118,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
