KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat resistant alloys and high nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology.
KEY FUNCTION:
Responsible for performing routine sample preparation and metallurgical lab-testing of cast steel samples in support of the Melting operations. Reporting under the general direction of the Manager, Quality Assurance and Environmental Health and Safety.
DUTIES:
· Practice safe working techniques and adhere to environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies, guidelines, and procedures.
· Perform on a daily basis assisting in a variety of quality control tasks to evaluate the chemical composition of steel castings.
· Sample preparation including the use of a variety of abrasive saws, pedestal grinder, and surface grinders.
· Maintain lot traceability for each processing lot of material.
· Evaluate chemical analysis results for compliance to specification and communicate them to the corresponding melt station.
· Accurately compile data into simple data summaries and reports as needed.
· Perform other duties as required.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
· Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Environmental Metallurgical Engineering Technologist from an accredited college or university.
· Training certificates in Health and Safety or related courses considered an asset.
· 1-2 years of Metallurgical Laboratory experience evaluating various metals and/or weld samples or chemical processing experience preferred. Relevant co-op experience accepted.
Hourly Wage Rate:
$28.54 / hour (Current 2024 rate)
