The Payroll Administrator/Coordinator is responsible for collecting Union employee timecards, scrutinizing timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of approvals into periodic payroll, and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees in a union environment. This position provides various HR administration tasks and reporting, across areas related to Union HR Management such as payroll, recruitment, employee relations, attendance and performance management. Work may be performed remotely from home a portion of the work week, based on business needs, with the employee reporting in to the office in Armstrong a minimum of 3 days a week. We are flexible!
Responsibilities
- Collect, compile and create payroll submissions from Union employee timecards.
- Review and verify timecards against expert application of the Collective Agreements and their specific pay rules.
- Facilitating supervisor timecards approvals and troubleshoot localized timecard issues.
- Compile timecards into bimonthly payroll submission and submit reports for pay to corporate payroll partners.
- Address employee's pay-related concerns, provide accurate payroll information, and complete inquiries.
- Assist in facilitating employee record changes, updates, and necessary filing.
- Tracking, recording, reporting, and consulting on absence management, including sick leave and WCB.
- Engage in full cycle recruitment process including internal and external job postings, managing job fairs, interviews, and hiring.
- Support HRBP during confidential employee relations, performance management, engaging in troubleshooting and grievance resolutions under the guidance of HRBP.
- Various project work
- Perform additional administrative or other related duties as required.
Essential Functions
- Process payroll by established deadlines.
- Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors.
- Develop, manage and maintain comprehensive payroll and employee records.
- Ensure compliance to Company policies and procedures and the applicable Collective Agreements.
- Tracking and recording of process and documentation related to leave management, employee relations, performance and attendance issues.
- Full cycle recruitment of union and non union roles.
- Organizing, consulting and processing of Union employee changes such as hiring, ending of employments, lay-offs and under the guidance of HRBP, displacements.
- Proactive attendance management reporting, troubleshooting, and consulting on a case by case basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- General knowledge of payroll practices.
- Excellent application and ability to ensure compliancy with collective agreements and employment legislation.
- CPHR or PCP certifications desired but not required.
- Ability to influence employees and leaders.
- Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
