POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for completing tasks related to the processing of payroll, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on-time, and that employment records are accurate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities can include the following:
Payroll Processing
· Payroll administration for multiple divisions in different provinces
· Processing weekly payrolls
· Collecting and following up on weekly time sheets submissions
· Help maintain the payroll inbox on a weekly basis
· Maintaining accurate electronic HR and Payroll records
· Reviewing time entry
Employment Records
· Setting up employees in Navision and Clarity payroll system
· Coordinating and following up with the HR Team on incomplete new hire paperwork
· Processing employee title changes, status changes, transfers, promotions and pay rate changes in NAV and Clarity
· Track vacation and sick time
· Creating and maintaining employee files, both paper and electronic
Other
· Assist payroll month-end and year-end duties including T-4’s and summaries
· Prepare ROE’s on line
· Print/compile reports when requested
· Assist staff in the completion of relevant forms
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
· A graduate from post- secondary institution in a related discipline or an equivalent combination training, education, and experience
· PCP - Payroll Compliance Practitioner in good standing
Experience:
· Minimum 4 years’ payroll processing experience
· Construction or project-based industry: 2 years (preferred)
Skills:
· Strong excel and MS office skills required
· Professional and confidential
· Strong data entry and attention to detail
· Analytical skills
· Exceptional organization and time management skills
· Good English written and spoken communication skills
· Ability to multitask and to be flexible for changing priorities
· Ability to easily learn new software
· Accountable; able to work well independently and within a team
