Our Vision
The Canadian Mental Health Association provides mental health education and mental illness recovery-focused programs and services for people of all ages and their families. We work collaboratively to develop realistic community awareness of homelessness and provide housing opportunities for clients. CMHA Kamloops creates awareness, provides education, and supports individuals and families living with mental health or substance use concerns. Our programs are community-based, they include supportive and independent living, homelessness services, and peer support. By working closely with other community agencies, we are working to bridge gaps in mental health care and facilitate access to critical services and resources.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Manager of Community and Vocational Integration, the Program Coordinator oversees clubhouse programming in Kamloops. They will determine methods of delivering quality service within the psychosocial rehabilitation domains (vocation, leisure and recreation, health and wellness and personal education) to ensure that programming meets the needs and goals of the individual with emphasis on promoting choice, inclusion, growth and development. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting and supervising designated staff, students and volunteers and recruiting potential clients through community engagement and promotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate a variety of wellness programs and activities to meet goals and objectives including determining methods of operating the program.
- Supervise staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback and evaluation, determining training requirements, orientating new staff, and maintaining attendance records. Resolve staffing problems, including calling in staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Consult with community groups and health care professionals to identify trends, needs and priority health issues. Maintain contact with community groups and volunteer organizations to promote interest, participation, and support for programs.
- Perform public relations and promotion activities such as liaising with community groups, preparing public relations material and advertisements, and arranging social media coverage of program events.
- Assist in the preparation of the program budget, prepares budget justifications, monitors expenditures, follow-ups with abnormalities, problem resolution, and prepares required financial documentation such as petty cash reconciliation.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree in humanities or health care related discipline
- Two years of recent, related work experience with an emphasis on mental health, addictions, housing, homelessness and/or social services and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- First Aid with CPR C
- Mental Health First Aid
- Class 5 Drivers License and own vehicle with Business Insurance
