Project Accountant

Job Title: Project Accountant
• Vacancy Overview:
• New role created due to substantial company growth, with multiple ongoing projects and expansions into new regions.
• Opportunity to offload tasks from existing staff members.
• Variety of scope including leasing, property management, and construction.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain project ledgers and perform full cycle project accounting from setup to closeout.
• Review and correct cost coding discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in billing codes.
• Maintain project budgets and issue purchase orders as necessary.
• Reconcile project costs and assist with change order processing.
• Analyze project profitability and performance.
• Read and interpret project contracts and subcontractor documentation for accurate project setup.
• Prepare monthly lender draws and assist with year-end preparations and external audits.
• File monthly GST reporting and reconcile/balance accounts.
• Perform ad hoc tasks and special projects as needed.
• Qualifications:
• Nearing completion or recently completed CPA Designation.
• Experience in the construction industry is required.
• Ability to work full-time in an office setting.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Advanced troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively.
• Excellent analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles.
Project Accountant Hours & Wage
• $60,000 - $70,000
• Discretionary bonus.
• Benefits: 80% employer coverage for health, dental, vision; $500/year for wellness services.
• Vacation: 2-3 weeks (potentially increasing to 3 weeks).
• Sick days: 5 days.
• Flexible working hours and potential for remote work after 6 months.
• Overtime: Occasional additional hours required at month-end.
