Pumpkin Carver/Design Assistant (Student)

POSITION: PUMPKIN CARVER/DESIGN ASSISTANT (student)
HOURS OF WORK: variable up to 36.25 hours per week (must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings and holidays)
LOCATION:
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)
SALARY: $17.40 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: May to September 2024
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
You will:

• Assist with the artistic design, carving and assembly of pumpkin-carved exhibits for the Pumpkinferno program at Upper Canada Village.
• Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor.
• Be a representative of one of Morrisburg’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites.
• Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.

HOW DO I QUALIFY?
You have:

• Artistic talent and knowledge of design gained through study, hobby or experience.
• The ability to safely and effectively operate various carving, painting and assembly tools.
• Good communication skills in order to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Good physical condition to meet essential physical demands.
• The ability to work in a team environment, alone and/or with minimal supervision.
• The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times.

Student Status: You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year).
