Job Description
Nelson Aggregate is a mining company involved in the extraction and manufacturing of aggregate materials for the construction industry. The Lab Technician plays a critical part in our company to ensure we maintain the highest level of industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret analytical data and advise appropriate personnel;
Operate laboratory to include aggregate samples, analysis of aggregate, storage of sample bags, and appropriate data entry for quality assurance and control standards;
Work with appropriate in-house personnel as well as customers to streamline approvals and resolve analytical issues;
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, changing environment;
Maintain integrity of instrumentation according to regulatory standards;
Tracking production/shipping data;
Ability to multitask and prioritize samples;
Ability to follow through day-to-day activities with minimum direction;
Any lab supplies, requested will go through your direct supervisor for approval;
Maintain awareness and share information regarding new and better methods of doing business;
Maintain calibrations and corrections factors of the lab equipment monthly;
Enforces all compliance, health and safety, and other pertinent compliance issues in accordance with regulatory and company policies;
Provide a clean, safe and compliant work environment;
Good work ethic;
Regular attendance and timeliness;
Strong team player;
Strong customer orientation;
Good communication skills;
Able to trouble shoot;
Well organized and good observation skills;
Must have valid G License;
Must have High School diploma;

Prior work experience: An asset but not required.
Work Environment: Spends 80% time in laboratory environment. Spends 20% in a plant and field environment.
