EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· Grade 12
· College Diploma/University Degree in Quality Engineering (or equivalent experience)
PREFERRED SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· Good writing skills
· Blueprint Reading
· Read and use measuring equipment
· Computer knowledge
· Good inter-personal skills
· Knowledge of calibration procedures
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Examines material for quality and manufactured items for defects and conformance, by using aids and instruments.
· Verifies that established standards are maintained.
· Affixes tags and other documentation to approved or rejected product.
· Assists the supervisors in establishing or altering methods and practices to meet the Customer and/or Company’s requirements.
· Investigate and recommends solutions to complaints received from Company personnel relative to quality issues.
· Completes the necessary reports.
· Calibration and maintenance of gauge control system.
· Complies with housekeeping requirements and health and safety rules established by the Company
· Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Ensure that employees receive appropriate training and they wear appropriate PPE using additional safety equipment when required and follow safe work procedure and practices. Report unsafe conditions or equipment, correcting substandard acts or conditions.
· Respond to incidents, arrange for first aid and take precautions to avoid further injury or impact. Follow procedures for accident investigation and reporting. Cooperate with internal and external contacts.
· Participate in information sessions such as safety talks and other forms of staff meetings.
· Oversee the general safety of the people and plant. Observe and monitor employee safety and provide H&S feedback.
· Any employee observed not following safety rules will be disciplined up to and including discharge.
· Use safety procedures in all work and according to Dajcor Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping Policies.
· Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned.
· Be responsible for safety performance in the assigned areas:
o Take action to correct substandard acts or conditions
o Observe and monitor employee safety
o Use safety processes in all work and according to Dajcor Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping policies
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
- 50% of time spent in the plant environment
HAZARDS:
· May be exposed, on a limited basis, to hazardous elements while on the plant floor
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
· Some time spent walking or standing.
· Majority of time spent at desk on office computer systems
· Some opportunities for handling parts during sorting operations
MENTAL STRESS:
· Constant production pressure
· Employee/union concerns
· Dealing with customer complaints
SENSORY ATTENTION:
· High attention to detail required in completing paper work
· Special visual attention to quality defects
· Communication skills in directing and listening to employee concerns
