Reporting to the Operations Director, the role of Regional Manager/Technical Advisor is to provide leading-edge advice and technical expertise to the authority having jurisdiction during an emergency event. You will possess the ability to translate this knowledge into the development of new methods, approaches or procedures, as well as the ability to apply logical, evaluative and scientific thinking to define problems, collect information, establish facts and determine optimal courses of action to pursue to support ERAC and our Plan Participant members.
As a Regional Manager/Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for managing all ERAC assets and response teams in your territory, as well as engage in outreach, business development and relationship building. While conducting regional training and assessments for our response teams, you will be responsible for ensuring they maintain the minimum equipment and scorecard requirements, and noting and communicating/coaching corrective actions, as required. You will be required to participate in an on-call rotation and can be activated to respond to incidents across Canada. All duties are to be carried out while keeping ERAC’s mission, vision and values top of mind.
The successful candidate will possess:
- 5 years’ experience in the hazardous materials emergency response industry and/or industrial or municipal hazardous materials firefighting
- NFPA 1001 Level II - Professional Firefighter Qualifications, NFPA 1081 - Professional Industrial Brigade Member, NFPA 1041 Level II - Instructor Professional Qualifications and Rail Car Specialist Certification
- ICS 100, 200 and 300, up to 400 would be preferred
- Previous training and experience in containment, confinement and transfer of bulk LPG, flammable liquids, anhydrous ammonia and ammonia nitrate, and bulk flammable liquids and/or LPG firefighting
- Knowledge of Transport Canada Standards and Regulations
- Class “5” Driver’s License with valid insurance
- Criminal Background Check, Driver’s Abstract and Drug and Alcohol testing satisfactory to ERAC
