Total Compensation
- Annual base Salary of $70,000.00 to $90,000.00
- 35% Annual Bonus based on personal and corporate performance.
- Vehicle Allowance of $800/monthly + KM reimbursement

Job Purpose
To Promote, sell, and secure new business including major accounts all while developing full market potential of existing customers. The Sales representative in wood coatings promotes product line acceptance by demonstrating products and services while assisting prospects in selecting what is best suited to their needs. All activities must be conducted following established safety rules and procedures and adhering to AkzoNobel's Code of Conduct
Familiarize established accounts with new products (services) and developments. Coordinate and assist company’s technical development staff in determining customers’ needs. Prepare documents such as price quotations, terms of sales, delivery dates, and service obligations. Write orders subject to approval. Inform company of competitive products, promotional sales, selling techniques, pricing, warranty, and marketing policies. Submit periodic reports detailing activities, sales volume, and expenses. May direct and assign work to Technical Service Representatives.
Key Accountabilities
Securing New / Existing Business.
- Keep customer updated of pertinent information and “cutting edge” finish technologies.
- Ensure proper pricing is communicated to the customer and work with customer on cost improvement opportunities.
- Assist in the coordination of all new finish development between Design, Marketing and Manufacturing.
- Keep abreast of new technology and products and communicate to customer.
- Attend seminars and trade shows as determined by Sales Manager and Marketing Manager and, on occasion, travel with customer to view new technologies.
Customer Support
- Formulation of special colors and minor modifications to improve application of curing, preparation of test panels.
- Sees that all orders and other customer communications are promptly and accurately handle. Insures appropriate action on customer service problems.
- Coordinate product development, inventory, and ordering
- Coordinate with Technical Service Representatives that are assigned to sales territory to support customer's technical needs.
Communication and Relationship Building (Internal & External)
- Manages AkzoNobel customer relationship and communicate with AkzoNobel departments on the customers changing needs.
- Establishes and maintains top level contact with the management of existing and potential customers.
- Communicate account activities to Sales Manager on a routine basis.
- Weekly communication with Sales Manager, upper and plant management and purchasing department.
- Be proactive in utilization of productive customer with lunches, dinners, extracurricular activities.
Level of autonomy (decision making and independent judgement)
Capable of identifying strategic clients/projects/owners and motivating business to support clients. Set own travel schedule, determine best timing of sales calls per account. Develop presentations for conferences and meetings, coordinate and recommend pricing. Develop coating specifications, reports and surveys. All the above within the bounds of the functional and operational guidelines of the business.
Job Requirements
- Computer Skills: Must be computer literate and be functional in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; must be able to pick up web-based platforms easily.
- 5 years in the coating, chemical industry, preferably heavy industrial or paint related.
- Fully Bilingual French/English: Ability to speak, write, and deliver presentations or correspondence in French and English professionally and effectively to all levels of management, peer groups and customers.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment in customer’s site.
- Must be able lift 50 lbs. with ease as well as to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to travel over 20% of time and work a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to travel to the USA.
- Must be able to participate and complete a qualitative and quantitative respirator fit test, and use respirator as required.
