Job Title:Seniors Day Program Worker
Supervised by: Director, Seniors Services
Reporting to the Director, Seniors Services and taking direction from the Coordinator of Care, Seniors Services, the Day Program Worker is responsible for the daily implementation of recreational, social and educational programs for the diversified members of the Seniors Day Program. The Program Worker is responsible for arranging or providing daily transportation to and from the program for eligible clients. The program worker will assist with program planning, monitoring and evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Community College diploma in a related field (SSW, Rec Therapy etc.) or related experience
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved for use in Canada
- One to two years’ experience and knowledge working with seniors who are frail
- Knowledge and experience in providing social and recreational programming for seniors
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications and client data management systems
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and others
- Valid G class driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract are required. Prior experience transporting clients in an agency vehicle an asset
- Proficiency in both official languages is an asset
- Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word and other MS Office applications, and client data management systems
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and others
Hours of Work:
The work week is 40 hours and will normally be worked Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm. Some flexibility in these hours is expected to allow for staff training, client and program needs, agency functions, staffing fluctuations and other responsibilities.
Agency Responsibilities:
- Ensures the confidentiality of client, staff and agency information
- Conducts all matters in a professional manner with respect to the individual dignity and right to self-determination of all clients
- Respects and maintains boundaries with users of the various programs and services.
- Conducts all matters in a punctual and responsible manner
- Works co-operatively with other staff for the good of the agency and the support of our clients
- Exhibits trustworthy behaviour in matters related to agency/client finances and property
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records, reports and statistics as required by the agency
- Participates in staff meetings, agency committees and external committees as appropriate
Specific Responsibilities:
- Implement a variety of activities to enrich the social, intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional needs of the client
- Observe and report changes in clients’ physical, emotional, mental health and/or cognitive functioning
- In collaboration with the Director and Coordinator, assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program activities
- Document daily attendance in client data base
- Handle cash payments for Congregate Dining
- Safely drive and maintain the van as needed to meet program and client needs.
- Assist in serving meals for congregate dining and be aware of special diets as well as monitoring/supporting Day Program clients while eating
- Other tasks as assigned by the Director, Seniors Services
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: $17.92-$19.71 per hour
