The Development Services Officer acts as a Statutory Decision Maker on development proposals within the Ministry's jurisdiction, as well as provides technical reports to Provincial Approving Officers regarding proposed subdivision applications. This position develops relationships and works closely with local governments and stakeholders in ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations, public safety, and the functional integrity of the highway system
Job Requirements:
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; OR,
  • Diploma or Degree in a related discipline (i.e., Geography, Land Use Planning or Environmental Science) and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include at least one (1) of the following:
  • Experience in the area of land use planning and development.
  • Experience in field services involving multiple stakeholders and partners at various levels.
  • Experience providing project management services for multiple assigned projects.
  • Experience developing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships, inside and outside government.
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Experience in the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
  • Experience in land use planning.
  • Experience in the Ministry's Transportation Entry Level Program (TELP); previously known as the Technician Entry Level Program.
