Junior Environmental Educator (Summer Camp Assistant)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent the FABN at one of the four Nature Camp locations.
- Demonstrate leadership and best practices in environmental stewardship.
- Participate in training.
- Assist campers with activities and rules.
- Cover lunch breaks for other staff.
- Fill in for staff who are away or leave early for appointments.
- Assist in other staff with implementing the FAB Nature Camp program.
- Maintain the FAB philosophy and mandate.
- Provide a safe, fun experience for all campers - on land and on water.
- Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and litter free.
- Know and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.
- Willingness to be in the water during each swim session, with their designated group.
Qualifications - Required
- Must be 16 years or older.
- Interest in working with children and in the outdoors.
- Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check (Valid within the last 6 months and for applicants over 18 years old).
- Willingness to work Monday-Friday, rain or shine for their full 8 week contract
- Personal means of transportation to and from camp.
- Able to walk 5 kilometers and lift 50 pounds.
Qualifications - Assets
- Bilingual
- Outdoor enthusiast, naturalist, and survival skills preferred
- National Lifeguard Certification NLS - priority will be given to applicants with their NLS
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 weeks
Salary: $16.55 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
