Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Site Services Superintendent is accountable for the support activities for the Magino mine in alignment with business plans and objectives. Critical to the smooth running of the site, water management, maintenance, small projects and support functions are just some of the activities that this role encompasses. This position and service department influences and impacts on the success of all functional areas of the Magino mine and as such, collaboration between departments is essential.
MAGINO MINE:
Argonaut Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a portfolio of operations in North America. Focused on becoming a low-cost, mid-tier gold producer, the Company’s newest gold mine, Magino is expected to become Argonaut’s largest and lowest cost mine. Commercial production at Magino has been achieved, which is the first step in transforming the Company as it enters a pivotal growth stage. The Company also has three additional operating mines including the Florida Canyon mine in Nevada, USA, where it is pursuing potential for redevelopment and additional growth, La Colorada mine in Sonora, Mexico and San Agustin mine in Durango, Mexico.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accountable for the implementation and maintenance of OHSE requirements including, but not limited to, training, instruction, and supervision of employees.
- Initial focus will be to identify the scope of activities across site and the development of a resourcing plan (human resources and equipment), fully costed and scheduled.
- Site water management including, but not limited to, ensuring environmental obligations and commitments are maintained.
- Delivering small projects and maintenance of all Magino infrastructure.
- Accountable for the provision of services such as refueling of gensets, lighting towers, potable water supply, effluent disposal and potable water plant maintenance.
- Provision of ancillary services such as snow removal in all areas and road maintenance on applicable roads.
- Accountable for the provision of crushed material for site use such as road base, stemming material.
- Identification of cost reduction and efficiency opportunities and the motivation and execution of the same; operating with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Accountable for all costs and budget items associated with the Site Services activities.
- Other duties as assigned based on business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant engineering or trade qualification.
- Minimum of 15 years’ relevant industry experience with last 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive budgeting and cost evaluation knowledge.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
- G Class Driver’s License.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
- The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off (12-hour days).
- Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
