This year, B2Gold forecasts gold production to be 1,000,000- 1,080,000 ounces.
Position
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Operations Manager, MLA, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the operation of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and trucks used for various tasks including earthmoving, ice road operations and road construction;
- Coordinate the construction and preparation of ice roads for transportation, this involves evaluating ice thickness, overseeing snow removal, leveling the surface, and guaranteeing safe passage for vehicles and equipment;
- Supervise earthworks activities such as excavation, grading, compaction, and soil stabilization to prepare sites for construction;
- Oversee the preparation of all construction items for winter;
- Direct skilled labourers by assigning duties, providing training, and ensuring compliance with guidelines;
- Coordinate activities among heavy equipment operators and crane operators to maximize efficiency and productivity;
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust construction schedules accordingly; and
- Enforce a strict safety-focused work environment, ensuring compliance with B2Gold’s policies and procedures.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Five (5) years’ experience in heavy equipment operation, winter road construction and earthworks with a minimum of two (2) years as a Lead Head or Supervisor;
- A ticket as a Heavy Equipment Operator or extensive supplemental experience in a variety of heavy equipment used for Civil and Earthworks construction;
- A Nunavut WSCC Supervisory Level II qualification, or ability to obtain same; and
- Previous experience working on a remote site in Arctic conditions with limited access to resources, is desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the annual salary for the role is $125,000.00
