STOP (Syphilis Treatment Outreach & Prevention Education) Project Coordinator and Facilitator
Centre for Sexuality is a community-based organization that provides access to non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health services and supports. We are hiring one amazing Project Coordinator and Facilitator to join our motivated team with a mission to normalize sexual health in Alberta. This position will coordinate the STOP (Syphilis Treatment Outreach & Prevention Education) Project.

The Syphilis Treatment Outreach & Prevention Education Project (STOP Project) is an intersectoral, collaborative community-physician response that addresses both proximal and distal determinants of syphilis infection and transmission. Its purpose is to advance sexual health and address STBBI inequities by expanding access to healthcare provider education and thereby increasing access to appropriate care for those populations disproportionally affected by Alberta’s syphilis outbreak. The STOP Project Coordinator and Facilitator, in collaboration with the STOP Curriculum Developer, will be responsible for coordinating and managing committee work with physicians, nurses, pharmacists for the development, accreditation, promotion, and facilitation of at minimum, four courses related to syphilis, STBBI Care, sexual health literacy and sexual wellbeing of vulnerable women (asynchronous and synchronous delivery).

Job Overview: The STOP Project Coordinator and Facilitator will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating various project activities, including but not limited to project coordination, creating and managing advisories and key stakeholders, leading accreditation processes, course marketing and promotion, and in-person course facilitation when required. This position requires a dynamic individual with project management expertise, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for advancing sexual health education and addressing health inequities to ensure the successful implementation, evaluation, and promotion of the STOP Project.

As our successful candidate you will be responsible for:
1. Project Management:
o Develop a comprehensive project charter, outlining project goals, scope, deliverables, timelines, and identify key stakeholders.
o Create and maintain a detailed workplan, ensuring project activities align with overall objectives.
o Manage project budget, including tracking expenses, allocating resources, and identifying cost-effective solutions.
o Implement and oversee project management processes, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones.
o Regularly communicate project progress through reports and updates to stakeholders.

2. Accreditation and Relationship Development:
o Establish relationships with members of professional bodies, such as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, College of Family Physicians and Surgeons, Canadian Nurses Association, and Canadian Pharmacy Association, to create working committees for the co-development of continuing education on syphilis and other interconnected topics.
o Collaborate with committees to create learning needs assessments, develop continuing learning objectives and delivery methods, build course content, and design evaluations that meet each professional body’s accreditation standards and requirements.
o Lead continuing education course accreditation submissions to professional bodies.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Develop and execute a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan, involving healthcare professionals, community members, and other key stakeholders.
o Organize and facilitate committee meetings with professional healthcare provider to gather input, complete needs assessments, support course co-development, and ensure alignment with healthcare needs and practices.
o Collaborate with community-based service providers through focus groups to understand lived experiences, needs, and barriers.

4. Promotion and Advertising:
o Develop and implement a marketing plan to promote STOP Project courses to healthcare professionals.
o Utilize various channels such as paid advertisements, emails, social media, posters, and letters to market the courses.
o Participate in promotional activities, including provincial conferences, to increase awareness and uptake of the continuing education offerings.

5. Physician Co-Developer Relationships:
o Organize and support relationships with healthcare provider co-developers, ensuring effective collaboration in the planning and decision-making processes.
o Facilitate communication and coordination among healthcare professionals involved in the project.

6. In-Person Training Facilitation:
o Facilitate in-person training sessions, responding to participant needs and ensuring a positive learning experience.
o Coordinate logistics for training sessions, both online and in-person, within Treaty 7 and across Alberta.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, healthcare administration, project management) and/or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Proven experience in project management, including the development and execution of workplans and budgets.
  • Familiarity with healthcare accreditation processes and experience working with accreditation bodies is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong group facilitation experience.
  • Experience in promoting and marketing educational programs to healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of sexual health, STBBIs, and healthcare systems is an asset.
  • experience and knowledge of transformational learning and facilitation.
  • experience with community engagement values and practice.
  • Project management/coordination certification is considered an asset.
  • Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and leadership capabilities.
  • Commitment to organizational values: Social Justice/Feminism, Prevention, Collaboration, and Curiosity.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel within Alberta for in-person training sessions.

Additional details:
This is a full-time, 35 hours per week contract position until March 31, 2026.
The successful candidate must be able to provide a police information record check with vulnerable sector search.

The position is based at our Calgary office and reports to the Training Centre & Community Engagement Team Manager. The salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $75,000 based on experience.
