As a Project Coordinator, you will coordinate capital construction projects and provide infrastructure delivery for Parks and Open Spaces. You will also be responsible for project management and in-field construction inspections and coordination ensuring that projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner, to the appropriate level of quality and within the prescribed budget. Primary duties include:
- Adhere to The City's safety, environmental and procurement programs and policies and assist others with compliance.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, and other City business units on asset replacement/upgrade construction projects.
- Lead project meetings and contribute to design development, execute procurement processes, contract administration, and financial management.
- Coordinate efforts of consultants and contractors and act as The City's representative to ensure that work complies with schedule, budget, and the project requirements.
- Develop and review project specifications, scope of work and site conditions to identify potential project risks prior to procurement.
- Review and verify submissions by contractors including documentation for invoicing and ensure all scope of work changes and costs are recorded and approved prior to execution in the field.
- Adhere to applicable regulations, special project conditions and specifications, and monitor environmental compliances.
- Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of inspection documents leading to Construction Completion Certificates and Final Acceptance Certificate (CCC and FAC).
- A completed 2 year diploma or technical certificate in a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in the landscape or building construction industry that includes project management, procurement and contract administration.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current charges or suspensions or charges pending is required.
- Applicants must possess or can obtain a valid Standard First Aid certificate prior to the first day of work.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required. Proficiency in MS Project would be an asset.
- Project management certification (PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2) would be an asset.
- Knowledge of The City's procurement process, development approval process, and an understanding of design in a wide range of landscape type projects will be an asset.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Proficient at technical review of digital drawings and knowledgeable in construction materials, practices and procedures.
- Possess strong project organizational and time management skills, organizational ability, digital file management skills and have a high attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision making.
