The Team Lead, Subdivision Inspections provides strategic leadership to the inspection team and work associated with Indemnification Agreements and Development Agreements, issues resolution, liaises with internal and external partners, investigates and implements process improvements, assists with key technical decision-making, resource and succession planning, and maintaining network integrity and customer service continuity. Primary duties include:
- Lead, motivate and develop the Subdivision Inspection team, including oversight of staff in satellite offices, formal supervision, succession planning, building psychological safety, time approvals, training, safety compliance and addressing 311 inquiries.
- Facilitate the delivery of externally driven infrastructure development projects by providing quality management services, certificate issuances, technical reviews, construction approvals and coordination of City services.
- Ensure maintenance of City network integrity, developer compliance with requirements, minimal public disruptions and continuity of services while coordinating and performance-managing development activities from preconstruction to final acceptance.
- Develop and enhance partnerships with the industry, Community Planning, Mobility, Water Services and Parks.
- Investigate and oversee complex issues resolution and negotiations.
- Identify priorities, process improvements, update service agreements, manage risks and track/report on performance metrics.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Inspection fleet, tools and equipment.
- Contribute to the updating standard and specifications for roads, water, and parks.
- Support the Manager of Building Safety and Inspection Services on strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year diploma in a relevant discipline and at least 10 years of experience in civil construction and design OR
- A degree in a relevant discipline and at least 8 years of experience in civil construction and design.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Knowledge of the City of Calgary approval process, Development and Indemnification agreements, understanding of Construction drawings, specifications, and local construction practices.
- Project Management Professional PMP designation will be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle changing priorities.
