Duties
The Quesnel RCMP Victim Services Program is a police based Victim Services program, which
provides victims of crime with the information, practical assistance, and the emotional
support that is needed for victims to participate fully in the justice system. The program
provides victims with appropriate referrals to community agencies.
- Overall administration of the program, including direct case management and
coordination; client contact and follow-up
- Administrative duties and office procedures to ensure consistent and up to date
service delivery of the program as per “E” Division RCMP policy and procedures
- Work closely with Quesnel RCMP Senior Management to ensure delivery of the
Quesnel Detachment Victim Services Assistance program and to work within the
changing mandates and policies as outlined in Chapter 37.6 of the “E” Division
Operational Manual
The part time Police based Victim Services Support Worker will work out of the RCMP
Detachment.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in related discipline (eg. Social Work, Psychology, Criminology,
- Victim Services training (preferred)
- One year’s experience in Victim Services work (preferred)
- A valid B.C. driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
- Proficient with computer systems (preferably Microsoft word and excel)
- Excellent volunteer management skills
- Ability to respond to 24-hour emergency call outs
- Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance
Knowledge
- Knowledge of and experience in crisis intervention and follow-up support
- A good working knowledge of court and police procedures as they relate to the work
performed
- Awareness of Current “E” Division Victim Assistance Policy and Procedures

- Have exceptional customer service skills and highly motivated personality
- Team player and ability to work independently
- Exceptional organizational skills; professionalism and a non-judgmental attitude
- Demonstrated commitment to client confidentiality and ability to establish and
maintain working relationships with RCMP members, staff, volunteers and community
agencies
- Must have own transport available when required
Hours of Work
Due to the nature of the program, hours of work must be flexible and may include the
necessity for on call telephone consultations and some scene attendance after regular
working hours. Advance notice for coverage will be provided whenever possible.
