St. Joseph's Care Group Youth Addiction Program is seeking a full time Youth Worker to provide therapeutic programming and support to students affiliated with the Matawa Education & Care Centre. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant develops, organizes and implements therapeutic and leisure life treatment plans and programs designed to assist individuals with mental health and/or substance use in order to attain an optimal level of health well-being.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Child and Youth Work or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of mental health and addictions, including crisis intervention skills
- Experience working with youth and young adults
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Culture and Northern Communities
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team approach to client care
- Must have demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and facilitating behavior management and group programs for youth
- Strong interpersonal, communication & written skills
- Class "G" driver's license and adequate insurance
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
