You have specialized training and experience in Construction Safety and will provide support and leadership to the Construction and Equipment Installation Project Manager to ensure the successful execution of the SCM Process and contractual safety requirements. You will confidently oversee the Safety Culture at all project levels, demonstrating safety leadership and clearly communicating requirements to stakeholders and the work force.
As a Construction Safety Manager, you can identify trends and leading indicators, providing recommendations to countermeasure negative trends.
Compensation and Work Schedule
- Term: Contract position; 6 month contract, with possibility of extension

- Work Schedule: Shift work, 10 hours per day, 6 days per week
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with safety experience in Civil or Mechanical construction or an Occupational Safety or Industrial Hygiene discipline
- Associate degree or equivalent in Occupational Safety such as Safety Management, Occupational
- In lieu of a degree, 5 years’ experience in a Construction Safety role on large civil or equipment
- A Safety Certification in construction (i.e., Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST))
Responsibilities
- Read and understand Buyers' required compliance with SCM Performance Standard
- Support investigations, ensuring proper root cause identification and that lessons learned are cascaded to project/location
- Verify that Contractors execute requirements in the "Special Safety Conditions for Construction" and the "Safety Manual"
- Review Prime Contractor’s Site Safety Plan prior to start of work
- Maintain a written list of Prime and Sub-Contractors performing work onsite and verify Prime and Sub-Contractor planned inspections are being conducted
- Verify Prime Contractors have delivered required training to all Contractor Workers onsite
- Review and accept Contractor’s Pre-Task Plans that align with contractual documents, validating
- Attend Daily Job Line Up Meetings and Weekly Safety Coordination Meetings
- Conduct Regularly Planned Inspections and Safety Tours and document findings with corrective actions
- Ensure proper notification of all safety incidents per the project notification process
- Review Contractor’s required Job Boards for contractual and regulatory required information
- Collect and report data (Contractor hours and Safety Observation Tour findings)
- Discuss Safety Performance at Weekly Project Review Meetings
- Communicate with Prime Contractor regarding health and safety of persons and property
- Conduct quarterly audit of Prime Contractor’s construction Safety Book
- Participate in training and development activities required by Project Manager and SCM Champion or as corporately directed
- Assist Project Manager with Annual or End of Project Seller Evaluations
