The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, the Facilities Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the day-to-day activities for the Tweed Tiverton (7ACRES) Facilities Department team. The Tweed Tiverton (7ACRES) site is a state of the art 400,000 sq ft, GMP certified, Hybrid Greenhouse responsible for providing the highest quality cannabis for all of Canopy Growth’s operational needs. The successful candidate must exhibit strong problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail and be a results driven individual.
Responsibilities
Compliance with building safety code, fire plan, and fire extinguishers inspection plan
Proposal and implementation of solutions to reduce operational expenditures.
Coordinate major repairs and other capital extensive projects.
Manage the operational budget related to the ongoing maintenance, upgrading, retrofitting, and ensuring the site is fully operational at all times.
Liaison between non-ops departments and facilities management
Manage the daily activities of all trades (Electrical, Mechanical, Maintenance & Automation techs)
Prepare a budget for the fiscal year and prepare monthly variance reports.
Prepare RFP documentation for proposed projects to include ROI’s and justifications as needed.
Maintain vendor performance and non-conformance reports and manage vendor relationships to effective, efficient, and lowest cost service provision.
Maintain and develop relationships with all internal stakeholders (managers) and report on departmental projects.
Develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
Ensure that preventive maintenance is completed on all equipment as needed to ensure operational up-time
Commissioning of processes and equipment once installed
Installation of new equipment, relocation of existing equipment, and upgrades to existing equipment
Maintaining operational uptime for all automated building and operational systems
Plan, organize and direct administrative services such as signage, parking, safety inspections, and snow removal
Develop, mentor, and manage staff
Accomplish work within the confines of the budget set by the General Manager
Report defined KPI’s to the General Manager as directed
Promote and ensure a safe work environment with strict adherence to H&S protocols
Ensure work is completed in accordance with any company SOP’s and guidelines to safeguard product and process integrity
Other duties as assigned
Experience & Background
Three (3+) years’ experience managing a facility and an ever-growing team
Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or a related industry with a minimum of 2 years supervisorial experience will be an asset
Post-secondary education in Business, Science, or relevant experience
A Red Seal Mechanical or Electrical Certification is required. A Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering will be an asset.
Knowledge of HVAC, irrigation, and lighting systems
Experience working with contractors, and maintaining schedules
Knowledge of GMP/cGMP, HACCP, Lean, and Continuous Improvement concepts
Problem solving skills; willingness and flexibility to foresee and overcome obstacles
Demonstrated ability to communicate in both verbal and written formats
Familiarity with CMMS (FiiX / SAP), BAS (PRIVA), ERP (Sage) and QMS systems
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to organize/prioritize workload
Attention to detail and accuracy
