Description of Responsibilities
The Human Resource Coordinator is a human resource professional, who oversees and implements all aspects of Ottawa West Community Support’s field staff employment and continuing education/in-service programs.
The Human Resource Coordinator works collaboratively with all program coordinators to assess and respond to all field employee requirements and reports directly to the Clinical Manager, In Home Services.
The Human Resource Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, screening, orientation and continuing education requirements of all Ottawa West Community Support field employees, including the maintenance and upkeep of field employee records.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with Senior Program Management, plans and implements effective human resource policies to ensure an adequate number of appropriately skilled field employees are available to respond to client service requirements
- Implements Ottawa West Community Support's recruitment, selection and hiring procedures including: advertising, screening, interviewing and referencing of applicants
- Implements Ottawa West Community Support's orientation procedures including comprehensive review of: Ottawa West Community field employee policies, position descriptions, scope of practice guidelines, and WHMIS training and testing
- Completes annual field employee file audits to ensure compliance with all Ottawa West Community Support's policies as well as annual WHMIS testing and medical form submission requirements
- Assists in the analysis of community care trends in order to assist with the identification of employee skill-level requirements; and to support effective employee recruitment and continuing education
Organizational Responsibilities
- Fulfills OWCS's Programs' mission, goals and objectives
- Maintains positive working relationships with the Senior Program Managers, Care Coordinators Client Scheduling Coordinators and others as appropriate
- Strives to develop and maintain a positive rapport with all staff members and community resources affiliated with Ottawa West Community Support
- Promotes OWCS programs and services
- In collaboration with the Senior Program Managers and other team members, assists in the development and implementation of long term planning and policies
- Represents OWCS at relevant OWCS meetings as requested for example community information fairs, employment recruitment fairs, etc.
- Meets regularly with Senior Management Team and other program team members
- Collaborates with Senior Program Management and supports cooperation with educational institutions to arrange, when possible, relevant educational experiences for student
Qualifications
Education
- Completion of administrative/human resource management studies; or
- Equivalent relevant experience
- Able to function in both of Canada’s official languages (where needed).
Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience in setting that provides off-site employee services and support
Skills and Abilities
- To understand the needs, interest and concerns of older adults
- Must possess positive, enthusiastic attitude, good people skills, and professional appearance
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Ability to collaborate in a fast paced team environment
- Ability to manage electronic field employee and data files, as well as routine office files
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ottawa West Community Support requires all employees to be fully immunized with two doses of a Health Canada approved Covid-19 vaccine. Second doses must have been received 14 days prior to official start date with OWCS. Medical exemptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
