IT Analyst – Two Positions
NuVista Energy Ltd. is a Canadian oil and gas resource company on a growth journey. Since our inception in July 2003, NuVista has grown from 3,500 Boe/d of production to over 85,000 Boe/d. Our primary development is centered around the Montney formation near Grande Prairie, AB, where we continue to make our mark.
We're currently seeking two IT Generalists Analysts to join our team at our Calgary (1) and Grande Prairie(1) offices. We're in search of individuals who are highly motivated, adaptable to shifting priorities, and enthusiastic about continuous learning. The ideal candidates will be eager to collaborate and take on tasks that may extend beyond their job descriptions.

Here’s What You Can Expect from the Role
- As part of a team you will have the opportunity to install and maintain various hardware and software across IT infrastructure and various end-user devices.
- Install includes: Architecting, evaluating, purchasing, deployment and implementation.
- Maintain includes: updates, patches, modifications, monitoring analyzing, and troubleshooting.
- Architecture spans firewall, switches, storage, physical and virtual servers, numerous applications, desktops, mobile devices, meeting rooms and other on-prem and cloud technology services.
- Respond to technical issues reported by end-users to promptly and effectively investigate and resolve.
- Continually work to ensure secure system availability and reliability.
- Assist employees and contractors in understanding IT policies and system usage best practices.
- Emergency after-hours support as needed.
- Create and update technical documentation for systems and processes.
- Remain engaged and informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Working with SCADA communications and industrial control systems when necessary.
- Engage in the IT team’s meetings to coordinate on projects, tasks, and identify opportunities for improvement. For the position in Grande Prairie, day-travel to field facilities in and around Grande Prairie.
What Makes You Stand Out
- University degree or technical school diploma in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, information technology, information science, etc. is an asset.
- Prior experience in IT disciplines is beneficial however we encourage recent graduates or applicants who exhibit a strong technical aptitude to apply.
- Familiarity or understanding of operating systems, network protocols, security concepts, cloud platforms, and databases.
- Demonstration of an analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and think through a wide variety of problems independently and with a team.
- A keenness for learning and flexibility to adapt.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Interest in the potential of AI as it relates to the Oil & Gas industry is beneficial.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial control technology is an asset.
