Description
The Kinistin Saulteaux Nation is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong case management skills who will successfully implement the Jordans Principle Child First Initiative (JP-CFI) program, specifically the Social Emergent Fund for JP. This is a new program focusing on all First Nations children living on-reserve. This program will ensure those children and their families have access to the health and social services they need, when they need them and to ensure that they do not experience denials, delays or disruptions of services due to jurisdictional disputes. Under the general direction of the KSN Director of Health, the JP Intake Worker position will be responsible implement, deliver and evaluate the Jordans Principle Social Funding program at the community level in accordance with the JP Service Guidelines.
This position is responsible for assisting the Service Coordinator with reviewing and approving social requests from the community related to utilities, rent, emergency accommodations, furniture, food, clothing and school supplies for eligible children and youth. Additional responsibilities include:
Work with and support the Service Coordinator,
Serve as a contact person in their community/service area for social requests,
Support families to access available supports in their community,
Verify eligibility of the child prior to approving funds,
Confirm that the recommendation letter is appropriate for the requested service or support and in the best interests of the child,
Document case files, and
Maintain records and invoices on file for audit purposes.

Reach out to First Nation families and invite them to use the enhanced service coordination
Enhance awareness in communities of existing services and supports
Build relationships with communities and collaborate with those providing existing community-based services
Work to proactively identify children with unmet needs to facilitate
