Job Summary:
As a line cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes and established standards while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure the timely and efficient preparation of dishes to meet customer demand.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare food items according to recipes, including but not limited to grilling, frying, sautéing, and baking, ensuring adherence to portion sizes and presentation standards.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Cook food items in a timely and efficient manner, coordinating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Follow proper food handling and safety procedures to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.
- Monitor food levels and replenish supplies as needed to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, cooking equipment, and utensils according to established sanitation standards.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries, rotating stock, and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to develop and refine recipes, techniques, and menu items.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to ensure accurate and timely service of dishes.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations, including health and safety standards.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the sous chef or kitchen manager to support the overall operation of the kitchen.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a line cook or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and culinary terminology.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks in a busy kitchen.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Education and Certification:
- Culinary school training or certification is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Stamina to work in a fast-paced environment and perform repetitive tasks.
