Maintenance Technician- 3 MONTHS TERM
Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager, this Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and proper operation, and maintenance routines of all assigned facilities in accordance with maintenance standards, legislations and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with QA Team, ensure facility and equipment are maintained as required by Cannabis Regulation
- Ensure compliance with safety matters under Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of all facilities. Ensure the Reactive/Demand Maintenance work is planned and completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime and provide uninterrupted service to facilities.
- Provide input into operating and capital budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
- Ensure the safe operation, installation, repair, and operation of all heating/cooling, plumbing electrical systems, life safety systems, and architectural/structural systems.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring the Preventative Maintenance Program on all building systems including in-house and contracted services and audit and track life cycle of building equipment for replacement.
- Ensure that unit activities are in compliance with applicable codes, divisional standards, city by laws, and that all facility legislative requirements are met.
- Assist with scheduling and assigning staff in the utilization and maintenance of all computerized Building Automation and work order Systems.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure all room set ups, deliveries, waste management, recycling activities and grounds maintenance are performed in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Conduct site inspection and site visits with contractors.
- Develop, implement, maintain a performance evaluation for contractors and consultants.
- Understand and follow Divisional and Corporate procurement policies and procedures.
- Provides 24/7 coverage for onsite response to emergencies
- Adhere to all Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Qualification and Educational Requirements:
- Possession of a trade license relevant to the role is considered an asset
- Post-secondary education related to the responsibilities or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skill Requirements:
- Experience in the management and maintenance of commercial property/ industrial building/ office building /property management or similar environment, including considerable knowledge of Mechanical/ Electrical systems, HVAC and BAS systems.
- Knowledge of contract management, vendor management, and project management.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and standards as it relates to Facilities Management with the ability to assist with conducting analysis, establishing programs, and measures with specific knowledge in developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans.
- Experience in planning, scheduling, coordinating work activities and holding people accountable, both staff and contracted professionals.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff, including the preparation of briefing notes, reports and other documents.
- Effective decision maker with a track record demonstrating innovation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills, promoting organizational performance and continuous improvement and the ability to promote and foster teamwork.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to support operational requirements
- Knowledge of GMP and GPP is an asset• Ability to act independently and as a team member
- Attention to detail and accuracy including thorough documentation abilities
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Ability to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice
- Excellent comprehension, communication and interpersonal skills
