Maintenance Technician - Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

Acadian Seaplants Limited is on the hunt for our next incredible and dynamic Maintenance Technician based in our Manufacturing Facility in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Your Role:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and predictive maintenance and repairs to equipment and machinery at the Yarmouth site, and offsite locations in Southwest Nova and Eastern Shore, in a safe and timely manner, and for performing or arranging for general maintenance throughout the facility in conjunction with other associated personnel.

More specifically, you will:

• Provide maintenance on all resource harvesting equipment (wharves), trucking and transportation equipment, runway equipment, plant production equipment, and Yarmouth facilities.
• Complete maintenance in a timely, safe and efficient manner. In doing so, reflect that we produce finished food grade products that meet or exceed all quality parameters.
• Troubleshoot problems with processing, trucking, runway, and cultivation equipment to determine root causes and take appropriate corrective action in a timely and safe manner.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, including date, duration spent on repairs, any modifications performed, etc. Communicate any concerns and reports on major repairs that result in lost or reduced production or significant expenditures.
• Repair and rebuild mechanical equipment, and build new equipment as needed. Disassemble, repair and reassemble mechanical equipment and other equipment.
• Coordinate and secure parts inventory for equipment under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Work in harmony with production staff in maintaining equipment and initiating improvements.
• Be open to and cooperate with change and continuous improvement of processes and practices.
• Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, and Environmental Management by displaying the appropriate behaviors and leadership towards meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.

Qualifications/Competencies:

• Related certifications and/or experience in mechanical maintenance would be an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to perform a multitude of tasks such as welding / fabrication, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, as well as other assigned tasks. (ie Millwright, heavy equipment mechanic etc)
• Well-developed organizational skills are required, and general knowledge of computers would be an asset.
• Must display initiative to achieve goal of keeping equipment and machinery in proper working order and minimize machine down time.
