National Sales Manager - Canada
The National Sales Manager is responsible for managing all products, distribution channels, and deployment of sales for the organization. They are responsible for developing the strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization. Specific responsibilities include business and market development, customer management, management of market research, strategic direction for promotion and advertising, sales growth and customer satisfaction. The NSM will also oversee the sales team members’ daily activity and development. NSM is a staff-level position, reporting to the General Manager.
Tasks:
- Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals.
- Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
- Manage the sales teams to deliver profitable growth.
- Manage the use of budgets.
- Define optimal sales force structure and hire and develop sales staff.
- Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets.
- Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.
- Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required.
- Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting.
- Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions.
- Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions.
- Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful support, channel and partner programs.
- Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
- Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships.
Skills and Attributes:
- The ability to use data driven insights to build and develop a comprehensive marketing and sales strategy to drive growth across multiple channels.
- Must be able to work closely with the Sales team and drive growth in key business metrics and opportunities.
- Ability to collaborate with the executive leadership team, and board of directors on business development activities which include but are not limited to strategic partnerships, pricing strategies, sales strategies, retention strategies, and market expansion strategies.
Competencies:
- Education, Experience, and Training: Four-year college degree from an accredited institution; master’s in business administration (MBA) or equivalent preferred.
- 10 plus years experience in a senior level Sales position for a manufacturing-based company.
- 5-7 years experience in a regional or territory-based sales position.
- This position requires extensive travel.
