Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a Payroll Specialistto join our HR team. This role will entail developing and managing the timely payment of both salaried and hourly employees, on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities:

• Set up, terminate and update employee information
• Input and process weekly payroll for multiple companies
• Assist with the preparation of source deductions, WSIB and other government remittances
• Participate in annual procedures for all companies including T4, TA and T2200 preparation as well as calculate taxable benefits
• Act as a primary contact for insurance related documents required for subcontractors and customers (WSIB clearance certificates, certificates of insurance, contractor qualification packages, gas cards, etc.)
• Maintaining records and expenses for fleet vehicles, uniforms, and tools
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports

Requirements:

• University Degree/ College Diploma with focus in HR/Accounting/Business
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification (or in progress) an asset
• Minimum of 2 years of in-house payroll experience considered an asset
• Proficient in MS office and accounting software
• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP an asset
• Demonstrates attention to detail, quality and accuracy in work
• Is able to resolve problems by evaluating options and developing solutions
• Strong communication skills
• Willingness to take on other duties as needed
