The Project Coordinator position involves the day-to-day operations of the department and corporate business initiatives, including Indigenous Partnerships. To succeed in this role, the incumbent will have excellent time management and communication skills, will collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines.
They will organize and communicate details related to a specific assignment or task, while serving as an interface between the Principal Archaeologist and team members and clients.
Purpose and Overview
- Reporting to the Manager, the Project Coordinator will assist with the coordination of teams, and resources, assist with project initiation and delivery, provide project management and project management support for all service areas of the department.
- The Project Coordinator will communicate (read, write, speak, listen) at individual, team, and project level in such a way that information is received and interpreted the way it was intended.
- The Project Coordinator will strive to and anticipate internal or external customer needs and deliver a quality product/service which contributes to enhancing long term relationships.
- The Project Coordinator must understand business fundamentals (e.g., time and cost estimating, cost control, scheduling, deliverables, QA/QC, marketing). Recognizing and understanding the importance of project goals, timelines, client expectations and deliverables in order to ensure a quality product that meets or exceeds expectations.
- The Project Coordinator will manage time wisely.
- The Project Coordinator will develop realistic action plans to achieve results while being aware of deadlines, resource availability, project goals and client needs. Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work. Knowledgeable of available resources and tools that will allow the work to be completed accurately, on time and on budget. Uses appropriate criteria to prioritize issues relative to plans and strategies.
- The Project Coordinator will demonstrate specific technical skills and knowledge which are a requirement for a specific position (e.g., invoicing, impact assessment,). They will be able to develop resource networks in order to obtain information, advice/support and/or commitment necessary to earn the trust and satisfaction of the customer in a responsive manner.

- The Project Coordinator will work closely with and report directly to the Yucwmenlúcwu Manager. This position will be office based. This is a career track position, with the successful candidate forming an integral part of Yucwmenlúcwu’s Resource Management Team.
Position and Responsibilities
Client Liaison and Business Development
- Develop project approaches and solutions to meet Company and client needs
- Liaise with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives
- Explore business development opportunities with new and existing clients
Coordination and Project Management
- Coordinate project management activities, resources, and information
- Develop work plans and budgets for assigned works
- Break projects into achievable actions and set timeframes
- Assign tasks to team members, coordinate scheduling, and oversee implementation of works
Training, Mentorship, and Supervision
- Assist with the development of a Company training and mentorship program
- Monitor team experience, skills, and performance on an ongoing basis
- Assist with the development of career and professional development plans for staff
- Track project time allocations, expenses, and completed works against work plans
- Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise
- Collaborate on projects with other Secwepemc communities
- Coordinate reporting and mapping tasks as needed
- Ensure data entry of daily labour, equipment, and expenses is accurate in project database for submission to payroll clerk for payroll processing Approval of accounts receivable invoices to clients
- Ensure Company and client safety standards and processes are met by the team
- Maintain frequent and clear communications with the Manager on project challenges
- Assist project managers with other tasks as needed
