The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking an organized and motivated individual to assume the position of Administrative Assistant with the Public Works and Engineering Department.
Under the supervision of a Superintendent, either Roads & Sidewalks or Water & Sewer, the incumbent performs a full range of routine administrative, clerical, data entry and retrieval duties, along with public relations and other related services to the Works Division. The incumbent provides the first level of response to public inquiries and complaints pertaining to operations. Additionally, the position provides dispatch services for the Public Works crews, when necessary, processes and records permits, and liaises with City Hall staff with respect to pertinent issues.
This position requires graduation from Grade 12 (or equivalent) and a minimum of two years general office skills, computer experience including word-processing and spreadsheets, and a valid NWT Driver's License. Tact and diplomacy are required when dealing with the public and staff. Neatness and accuracy are required in all documentation. The incumbent must possess the ability to work independently. The position may be required to work overtime on weekends occasionally and incumbent must be able to do so.
The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $70,872 - $83,124 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances and a defined benefit pension plan.
