Established in 1966, Red Hat Co-operative Ltd. Is the central packaging, marketing and distribution facility for 30 independently owned greenhouse operations. We are seeking a Quality Assurance team member to work in our modern 100,000 square foot facility. This position to expand our Quality Assurance team.
Role:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the role of this position is to monitor and maintain the Quality Assurance Program and Food Safety Program. The Programs include routine inspection of all incoming and outgoing shipments of product and ensuring that all regulatory food safety audits/programs are maintained at the highest level. As Quality Assurance, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain product specifications that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Inspect and document quality of all incoming product (grower and purchased brokerage)
- Examine and test product by sight, touch, taste and smell or weigh materials through various stages of processing to ensure conformance to company specifications.
- Coordinate and review chemical and other testing, compile and maintain test result information
- Examination and testing of packaging integrity
- Ensure product is properly packaged as per customer requirements (date codes, labels)
- Maintain related test documentation
- Document and maintain product data and ingredient lists for specifications.
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation practices conform to policies and regulations
- Communicate with management, supervisors and growers with respect to quality issues
- Maintain customer refusal program
- Complete customer portal requirements accurately in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Completion of high school preferred, some vocational training an asset
- Two years related experience in packaging or warehouse environment
- Demonstrate commitment to health and safety
- Becoming familiar/participate in the health and safety program
- Proficient computer skills
- Comply with safe work procedures established by the Red Hat Co-operative
