As an Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe work environment. Your responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with CNESST regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with CNESST regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health and safety issues, including training, hazard communication, and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Maintain records of health and safety incidents, inspections, training, and compliance activities.
- Coordinate with CNESST, as necessary, to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and ergonomic assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
- Stay informed about emerging health and safety trends, regulations, and best practices and incorporate relevant updates into existing programs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including People Team, Operations, and Facilities, to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Certification as a Specialist in Safety, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in safety management within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Experience in safety protocols and procedures implementation, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Thorough understanding of Quebec's health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards and assess risks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with incident investigation techniques, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.
