Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation has an opening for an Sr. Plant Turnaround Advisor, Safety. The primary responsibility of this new position is to support Pembina Gas Infrastructure (PGI) Turnaround activities within the safety discipline by working collaboratively to implement proactive prevention initiatives to further improve performance and ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and corporate standards.
This position reports to the Supervisor of Safety based in our Grande Prairie office. The Sr. Advisor role is part of the Safety (North) Area within the Safety Unit of Pembina’s External Affairs Division. Promoting Pembina’s Safety Culture – Zero by Choice, the Safety Service Unit is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, insurance program and Operations Management System governance. The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.
 
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
-Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina/safety;
-Champion safe and cost-effective preventative and loss management approaches within Turnaround (TA) activities to minimize potential losses and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate policies, standards, procedures, practices, etc;
-Work collaboratively with Operations Management and staff to build a strong safety culture;
-Conduct and/or review hazard assessments for higher-risk activities in preparation and during TA activities, taking appropriate actions to address them;
-Provide on-site safety guidance and assistance to ensure appropriate controls and resources are in place when required;
-Perform or participate in various internal and/or external audits and inspections, including, but not limited to, ground disturbance, energy isolation, Life Saving Rules, etc;
-Participate actively in related TA Planning Session/Safety meetings and function as a resource to personnel to provide coaching, mentoring, and advice on all OH&S related matters;
-Communicate emerging safety issues to Safety Leadership, Operations and Project Teams and work collaboratively with all parties involved to ensure the appropriate mitigation(s) are in place;
-Review and assist with incident investigations, reporting, and implementing follow-up actions to prevent recurrence;
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking;
-Manage multiple safety priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable and rapid schedule changes;
-Handle pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment, demonstrating advanced conflict resolution skills;
-Commit to selecting, mentoring, and retaining a focused team of Contracted Safety Representatives for TA Safety oversight, and delegating responsibilities effectively;
-Support the Emergency Management function by engaging with first responders, regulators, local authorities, mutual aid groups, and support services when required;
-Serve as Safety liaison for internal or external parties during TA activities;
-Promote continuous improvement opportunities from lessons learned throughout TA projects; and
-Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
-This position requires a background of safety expertise and/or extensive gas plant operations and/or maintenance experience within a TA setting:
-Minimum 10 years of industry experience, with the majority of time engaged in Safety-related disciplines within Gas Plant facilities, particularly during complex Turnaround locations;
-Post-secondary education in the Occupational Health and Safety field and/or equivalent combination of post-secondary education, trade certification, technical training, and related work experience;
-Completion of a Designation/Accreditation as a Safety Professional (i.e., CRSP, CSP) is highly recommended and preferred;
-Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory and industry occupational safety requirements;
-Strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to interface positively with the field, engineering, project, and contract personnel;
-Working knowledge of MS Office and a demonstrated aptitude working with other business-related computer programs and applications; and
-Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
 
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract. 
This position requires the successful candidate to reside within 100 km of the Grande Prairie office.
